SAVIOR

The Savior quality of both Jesus and Superman is one of the greatest in proving their similiarities. Both of these men are very unselfish as they would do anything to help others, no matter the risk. Although the ways that they save people are different, both have the same goal of saving people. Whether it is saving someone from Sin or from danger.

Jesus is a savior. He is both fully human and fully divine as he is the son of God. The famous scripture verse from (John 3:16, NRSV) says " For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life" perfectly states why Jesus is viewed as a savior. Unlike Superman, Jesus at no time uses physical violence to save people. Even while being persecuted Jesus remains calm and never resorts to any sort of aggresion. Jesus was crucified by the Romans as they feared the support that he was gathering. Jesus accepted his fate and even while being humiliated he stayed calm as he knew what he had to do. In the end Jesus acceptingly dies on the cross to save others. He quite surely could have resisted and got his large following to fight back but that was not the type of person Jesus Christ was.

WARNING GRAPHIC

Superman is a savior. He is not human, but an Alien with human ancestors and appearance. In all super hero franchises there is evil. Whether that evil is a villain or just bad things happening, it is a vital part of the story lines. In the Superman franchise, Superman is always saving people. It can be as simple as saving somone from being injured to saving the whole world from devestation. Either way he is a savior as the definition for is "one that saves from danger or destruction" (Merriam-Webster). In the Batman V Superman movie, Superman sacrifices his life to save peoples lives, similarly to Jesus Christ.
